Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona got into a row with both the referee and England midfielder Declan Rice after the extra time elimination from EURO 2024.

The Italian tactician, who since February has been balancing this international job with the role of caretaker manager at Napoli, was 120 seconds away from reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Ivan Schranz had given Slovakia a deserved lead, but Jude Bellingham scored at the 95th minute with England’s first shot on target, a sensational overhead kick.

It went to extra time, where Harry Kane nodded in immediately, allowing the Three Lions to defend for the rest of the game.

At the final whistle, a frustrated Calzona went over and was trying to speak to referee Umut Meler when Rice seemed ready to intervene, so the coach shoved him out of the way.

Rice reacted angrily and had to be pulled away by his teammates to prevent the situation escalating.

Rice was caught on camera appearing to call Calzona “you bald ****.”
