This match will probably decide who wins Group G and these Slavia Prague vs. Roma predictions suggest it will be the Serie A side that is happier on Thursday. Only one team automatically progresses to the Europa League knockout stages.

Slavia Prague vs. Roma odds

1 – Roma to win – 11/8

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 7/10

3 – Both teams not to score – 10/11

4 – Romelu Lukaku to score at any time – 8/5

5 – Roma to win 1-0 – 13/2

It is match day four in the Europa League and these two sides are the only ones looking like winning Group G. The runner-up will have to contend with a playoff game to get into the round of 16, so victory here is all-important. Slavia Prague lost at home in the league at the weekend but will be hoping that they can turn things around on Thursday.

That was the Czechian side’s first domestic defeat of the season but they have already lost to Roma during this campaign. Slavia conceded in the very first minute in the Stadio Olimpico in the reverse fixture, so a nervy start can be expected here.

That second place finish will be just about be assured even if Slavia do lose this week. But Jindrich Trpišovsky will want his side to fight for all three points in front of their own fans at the Fortuna Arena in order to put some pressure on Roma on the last two match days.

The Giallorossi enjoyed a dramatic weekend in Serie A, scoring twice in stoppage time to claim the points against Lecce. Romelu Lukaku scored the winner, after earlier having a penalty saved. He is the club’s top scorer this season and he should be backed to find the net in Prague this week too.

Don’t expect the visitors to be on the attack too much at the Fortuna Arena though. A draw would probably be enough for Roma to go on and win the group – and that would suit Mourinho just fine. If his side can nick a goal too, then it would be a bonus.

This game may not be one for the purists, as both sides look to avoid losing rather than win. A single goal could well decide it and Roma are probably in the best position to do that.

Slavia Prague team news

Jindrich Trpišovsky has no new injury worries for this one and will be looking to send out his strongest possible starting XI in the hope of taking all three points. They might find it hard breaking down the Roma defence though.

Roma team news

Jose Mourinho may be dealing with a defensive injury crisis but expect to see Roma look to frustrate their hosts on Thursday in order to avoid losing at all costs. Paulo Dybala was able to play an hour at the weekend but it would not be a surprise if he is rested here, with Andrea Belotti a possible replacement.
