Milan have to wait for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return, as Sky Sport Italia reports the Swede will be back after the first international break in September.

The Rossoneri striker reportedly continues his rehabilitation and recovery programme, and the broadcaster claims it’s going smoothly according to the schedule established by the medical staff.

Ibrahimovic expected back in eight weeks

The good news is that the Swede has started working in the sand pits and is expected to return immediately after the international break.

He should be back in time for the third round of fixtures in Serie A and the first game in the Champions League.

Milan, who finished second in the Italian top flight last term, start the new season with an away game against Sampdoria in Liguria.

Zlatan is set to miss the opening game and the second against Cagliari at San Siro, but is expected to be back for the home game against Lazio on September 12.
