Udinese are reportedly close to confirming Luca Gotti as their head coach for the third consecutive season.

Gotti helped the Friuli finish 13th in Serie A 2020-21, but the club seemed set to replace the tactician and start fresh with a new coach.

The Bianconeri were linked with Venezia coach Paolo Zanetti and former Genoa coach Rolando Maran, but Sky Sport Italia reports the club has decided to activate the renewal option in his current deal expiring this month and thus continue with Gotti in the dugout.

The report claims Udinese are very close to announcing the confirmation of the current coach, who replaced Igor Tudor at the helm in November 2019.

He has brought the club to safety in Serie A in the last two seasons and the broadcaster believes Gotti is ready to enter his third season as head coach of the club.

The 53-year-old was promoted from being Tudor’s assistant to becoming the head coach and in 2019 he expressed no intentions of keeping the job permanently.
