Jose Mourinho has reportedly turned down a lucrative contract offer from the reigning champions of the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ahli, in favour of staying on at the Stadio Olimpico with Roma.

According to an exclusive from Laroma24.it, Mourinho was in London on Wednesday morning for a meeting with Mahmoud al-Khatib at the Chelsea Harbor Hotel on the banks of the River Thames.

Also present in the English Capital on Wednesday according to Laroma24 was Matt Odonohoe, who represents West Ham and Azzurri striker Gianluca Scamacca, with whom Roma have been widely linked in recent weeks.

It was later reported by Sky Sport Italia on Wednesday afternoon that, despite what is expected to be an enormously lucrative offer from the Saudi outfit, Mourinho’s only intention is to stay on with Roma.

The Special One told his players the same thing immediately after their loss on penalties to Sevilla in the Europa League final in May, claiming: “I feel safe here. I want to continue here, for you.”

Mourinho has been in charge of the Giallorossi since the beginning of the 2021-22 season, and since then has taken the team to two consecutive European finals, winning the inaugural Conference League last season, before reaching the final of the Europa League this season.

Confined to another season in the Europa League for 2023-24, Roma will look to go one further than they did last season in their bid to return to the coveted Champions League.
