Sky Sport Italia claims Simone Inzaghi could change eight players in Inter’s line-up against Benfica, resting both Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.
The Nerazzurri have already qualified for the Champions League Round of 16 with two games to spare, so Inzaghi will likely rotate his squad in Wednesday’s away meeting with Benfica.
Denzel Dumfries has not joined the team in Portugal as he’s recovering from muscle fatigue, but Alexis Sanchez is available after missing Sunday’s Serie A game against Juventus.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Chile international will likely start against Benfica alongside Marko Arnautovic, leaving Lautaro Martinez and Thuram initially on the bench.
Yann Aurel Bisseck is expected to start in defence alongside Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij, while the whole midfield will change compared to the previous starting XI in Turin.
Matteo Darmian and Carlos Augusto will be on the wings, with Kristjan Asllani, Davide Frattesi and Davy Klaassen in central midfield. Emil Audero could make his Inter debut replacing Yann Sommer but it is yet not guaranteed that Inzaghi will bench the Swiss international.
