According to Sky Sport Italia, Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano is among the candidates for the Tottenham job in 2023-24.

Spurs are on the lookout for a new coach after dismissing Antonio Conte and his former assistant Cristian Stellini. According to Sky Sport Italia’s transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, Italiano is among Tottenham’s candidates for the job.

Italiano has led Fiorentina to two finals this season, in Coppa Italia and Conference League. The Tuscans lost the Coppa Italia Final against Inter on Wednesday but can lift their first trophy in over 20 years against West Ham on June 7.

‘It’s inevitable to see Italiano targeted by top clubs such as Napoli. It wouldn’t be surprising if Aurelio De Laurentiis gambles on him,’ said Di Marzio on Thursday, as quoted by Fiorentinanews.

‘I know Italiano also has admirers abroad. He is on Tottenham’s agenda, who still haven’t finalised a deal with Slot. Many say that Italiano has a €10m clause, but there are no clauses in his contract with Fiorentina.’

Fiorentina hired Italiano in 2021 and the 45-year-old is under contract with the Tuscans until June 2024. Ironically, the Italian tactician moved to Florence from Spezia after the sudden sacking of Gennaro Gattuso, who then entered talks with Tottenham just to be eventually scrapped following fans’ protests.

Italiano has won 50 of his 101 games in charge of Fiorentina.
