Six clubs from England, three from Italy and three from Spain announced that they intend to form a Super League as founding members.

Sky Sports offers insight into one of the English clubs at board level, revealing how some directors at the six English clubs have been against the decision to break away from the UEFA and FIFA, but that they don’t feel they have the power to stop it.

Additionally, the report reveals that the owners of the six English teams are still fully committed to breaking away and were ‘fully expecting a backlash’, but that they are ‘not that worried about bad PR at the moment’.

Via their English club boardroom insider, the broadcaster goes on to quote the six Premier League club owners’ view: ‘Our primary job is to maximise our revenues and profits – the wider good of the game is as a secondary concern’.
