Milan Skriniar says Inter sent a warning message to their rivals with their derby win against Milan and explains why he was not angry despite lack of playing time last season.
The Slovakia international has 22 appearances in all competitions so far this season, but Antonio Conte left him out of the Inter XI at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
“I didn’t play in Europa League, where Inter were successful. I was not part of the regular starters,” Skriniar told sport.sk.

“I didn’t play in Europa League, where Inter were successful. I was not part of the regular starters,” Skriniar told sport.sk.
“Despite that, I was not angry. On the contrary, I tried to help the team as much as I could. I know it was difficult to get game time in that moment, but the situation has changed now and I think it will remain as it is in the future.”
The Nerazzurri suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Juventus in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday, but had beaten the Old Lady and Milan in Serie A only a few days earlier.
“The victory against Juve was important because Inter hadn’t won against them for long time. It was very important for our fans,” he said.
“The win against Milan served as a message for them and for the other opponents, we are ready to fight until the end and earn a place among the best clubs.
“We are Inter and we have a great team. We have been talking modestly about the Serie A titles. At the same time, it’s natural to compete for the most important targets.
“We are doing well, the same club has been winning [the title] over the last nine years and it’s something we’d like to change.”
