Milan Skriniar saluted Luciano Spalletti, but “there are new expectations and Inter want to challenge for the Scudetto” with Antonio Conte.

The Nerazzurri scraped into fourth place to qualify for the Champions League for the second year running, but it was not enough to keep Spalletti in his job.

“Spalletti is a great person and a great Coach, but the club made its decisions,” centre-back Skriniar told SportMediaset.

“Now there is Conte, there are new expectations and we want to challenge for the Scudetto.”

It’s possible Icardi will also move on this summer, as he does not seem to be in Conte’s plans, while Diego Godin arrives on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid.

“Icardi is a great player and a friend, so we’ll see what happens. If he remains, then we’ll be happy about that. Godin will make the squad even more competitive and that is the most important thing.

“The season was satisfactory because we got into the Champions League, but can always do better. The results in the final weeks of the season weren’t what we wanted, but our objective was to finish in the top four and we achieved that.”
