Inter defender Milan Skriniar said the Scudetto is a ‘huge success’ for the club ‘and for the fans who have waited for 11 years’.

The Slovakia international has been a vital member of Antonio Conte’s squad this term and helped the Nerazzurri pick up their first Serie A title since 2009-10.

“I have unreal feelings, an unreal joy,” Skriniar told Sport.sk. “I admit I didn’t expect us to win it.

“I have unreal feelings, an unreal joy,” Skriniar told Sport.sk. “I admit I didn’t expect us to win it.

“Last Sunday, I was thinking of closing at home against Sampdoria next Saturday. It happened and I’m glad it went like this.

“It’s a huge success. For me, for the club and for the fans who have been waiting for 11 years.”

Inter secured the title when Sassuolo drew with Atalanta and Skriniar revealed how he spent the Sunday.

“I saw the game in the hotel room, on a tablet,” he said. “After the final whistle, I immediately opened the champagne.

“This is the greatest success of my career. Winning an Italian title is very challenging. Especially in the season when we were eliminated from the Champions League and the Coppa Italia.

“It’s incredible, I will probably understand everything after a while. I dedicate this title to all Slovaks. I’m very happy to have brought it to our country.”
