Former Paris Saint-Germain and Italy goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu is said to be returning to France, as a medical is planned with OGC Nice.

The veteran shot-stopper is a free agent after leaving Napoli in January for a short-term move to Fiorentina.

He spent five years at PSG, followed by experiences at Sevilla, Osasuna, Torino and Genoa.

Now Sportitalia suggest the 36-year-old is heading back to Ligue 1, as a medical has been scheduled for him to then sign on at OGC Nice.

He had also been linked with FC Lorient, but Nice seem to have won out instead.

Sirigu amassed 248 Serie A appearances and 145 in Ligue 1, while he has 28 caps for Italy at senior level.

The transfer market is closed in France, but the clubs can still sign players who are out of contract.

This decision to join Nice comes after their goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel terminated his contract by mutual consent.
