The Italian international has been replaced as first choice at Parc Des Princes by Kevin Trapp, leading to speculation he could return to Serie A, with Milan also said to be interested.

French newspaper L’Equipe reported on Thursday that the ‘keeper had refused to take the field for PSG’s final Champions League match with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Sirigu has not yet played in the Champions League this season, meaning he would be eligible to play in the competition for another team if he were to move in January.

“Salvatore Sirigu did not refuse,” Carlo Pallavicino insisted in an interview with Le Parisien.

“There was a decision taken in mutual agreement with the Coach [Laurent Blanc] not to jeopardise the possibility of a January move.”

Le Parisien reiterates interest from Roma, but believes that Sirigu’s €4.5m per year salary and the €10m PSG would likely demand makes a January transfer difficult.
