“I have Palermo in my heart,” stated the 25-year-old in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport. “I would have stayed if they would have wanted to keep a hold of me.”
The goalkeeper was in talks with the Sicilian club about a new contract, but a failure to agree terms saw his exit.
“It wasn’t a question of money,” he continued. “I was actually prepared to play for another season with the contract that I was on at the time.
“I wanted to do that so I could demonstrate what I was worth and in an effort to convince the directors to make me a real offer.
“However, they pushed me towards the exit.”
Sirigu was linked with a variety of clubs before PSG’s new sporting director, Leonardo, made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“Leonardo made it clear that he wanted to take me to France and I’m happy here, I’m enjoying myself,” he continued.
“Here in Paris you are only a hero on a Sunday and then they leave you in peace. There is less pressure compared to the Italian championship.”
