Nigerian forward Nwankwo Simy is expected to carry out his medical with Salernitana today and complete a move from Crotone.

The 29-year-old impressed big time in Serie A last term, scoring 20 goals in 38 games, but couldn’t prevent Crotone from being relegated to the second tier.

But the former Nigeria international seems set for an immediate return to the top flight, as his contract with Crotone expires already in June 2022.

The former Portimonense and Gil Vicente striker, who arrived at Crotone from the former in July 2016, is expected to complete a move to newly promoted Salernitana ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.

Sky Sport Italia reports he will move on loan with an obligation to buy for €6m including various bonuses.

The centre-forward, who has scored 66 goals in 159 games with the Rossoblu, will, according to the broadcaster, arrive for his medical today and then sign a deal with the Granata.

Previous reports have suggested Simy will sign a deal worth €1m a season and TMW reported Crotone will get a 10 per cent cut of any future transfer fee.
