Former Milan forward Marco Simone has been confirmed today as the new coach of Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport.

The 45-year old has been at the club since November 2013 in the role of technical director, and has signed a contract to manage the Swiss Super League side for the remainder of the season, taking over from Francesco Gabriele.

LS have confirmed the appointment in a statement released on their website, whilst noting also Simone has now picked up the necessary UEFA Pro licence qualifications to take on the role.

Simone enjoyed enormous success in his playing days with the Rossoneri, winning four Serie A titles and lifting the Champions League trophy on two occasions.
