Anderlecht have officially confirmed the signing of talented teenager Jan-Carlo Simic on a permanent transfer from Milan.

The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, which will run until the summer of 2029.

Anderlecht have reportedly paid a €3m fee to secure Simic’s services. The German-born Serbia youth international made four Serie A appearances last term, scoring his first goal on his senior debut in a league clash against Monza at San Siro.

In doing so, he became Milan’s third-youngest goalscorer in the three-point-per-win era.

“Now that we have secured Jan Vertonghen for an extra season, Jan-Carlo is the next important piece of the puzzle,” Anderlecht CEO Jesper Fredberg said in an official statement on the club website.

“He is an extremely talented, young player with some experience already in one of the biggest leagues in Europe. He fits our style of play: he is a player who likes to have the ball and is comfortable in the build-up, yet he is also aggressive and strong in the duels when defending.

“He is also a player with a mature personality for his age. So we are very pleased to have been able to secure a young talent with a bright future for the long term.”

Simic bids farewell to Milan

Simic has also had a chance to say his farewells to Milan supporters, posting a goodbye message to his Instagram profile on Tuesday evening.

“My dear Milan, It’s a moment full of deep emotions for me. Saying goodbye is never easy. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience with many joys but also delusions. This path made me grow as a footballer and as a man,” Simic wrote.

“What is certain is that I leave with a big smile on my face because I realised my dream of making my professional debut and scoring in the Rossoneri shirt.”
