Giovanni Simeone says many people talk to him about Luca Toni at Hellas Verona, but admits he would like to try a different league in the future.

The Argentinean striker has scored 12 goals in 22 Serie A appearances with the Gialloblu this season, earning comparisons with Italy great Luca Toni.

Although the 2006 Italy World Cup winner had different characteristics, he was the last top scorer at the Stadio Bentegodi, becoming the Serie A’s joint-Capocannoniere with Mauro Icardi in 2014-15 with 22 goals in 38 games.

“Many people talk to me about him, but the group is also drawing attention,” Simone told AS.

“There is a lot of talk about strikers and how many goals we score. If I have a bad day, [Gianluca] Caprari can score and vice-versa.

“Caprari has qualities that I didn’t expect, but when you move to the right place, it’s easier to fulfil your potential. Davide Faraoni is another player I like. He takes care of every detail, I like the way they train and play.”

Simeone has played for Cagliari, Fiorentina and Genoa in Serie A, but would he like to try a different league in the future?

“I am really happy with where I am now,” he said. “But yes, it’s something that I’d like. For now, I am not thinking about where I could end up. Italian football is improving, and I will learn a lot here.”
