Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has called up former Juventus striker Alvaro Morata for Tuesday’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Inter at San Siro, despite reports he would likely be unavailable through injury in recent weeks.
Morata had suffered bruising to the bone in his knee and reported some minor ligament damage after Atleti’s 1-0 loss to Sevilla in LaLiga last weekend.
However, he has since recovered and is in the travelling squad to face the Nerazzurri on Tuesday, although it remains to be seen how long he will feature for, if at all.
Former Arsenal and Valencia centre-back Gabriel Paulista has also returned to the squad despite concerns over his availability.
Elsewhere, Atleti are expected to be without ex-Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, as well as Thomas Lemar and Marcos Paulo.
