Hellas Verona goalkeeper Marco Silvestri admits he was fortunate to stop Lazio and Luis Alberto scoring. “If I didn’t get there, the woodwork did.”
This rescheduled Week 17 fixture ended 0-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, but Luis Alberto thumped the upright twice and tested Silvestri on several occasions.
“He hit it really hard, fortunately it came through a gap and I got my hands to it,” the goalkeeper told DAZN of that stoppage-time save on Luis Alberto.

“He hit it really hard, fortunately it came through a gap and I got my hands to it,” the goalkeeper told DAZN of that stoppage-time save on Luis Alberto.
“We played well and also had a few chances of our own, so I thought it was a great performance and a deserved point.
“We came here to play with great humility and see it as a battle, with no fear. We intend to play our game everywhere, just as we did this evening, and must continue with this attitude, as it is paying dividends.
“I made a few saves, but we worked really hard to block Lazio off and defend as a unit. It’s inevitable you will allow a few chances to a side like Lazio, but when I didn’t get there, the woodwork did.”
Verona will be back in action on Saturday against Serie A leaders Juventus.
“We go home aware that we can face anyone without fear and that would’ve been true even if we had lost after this performance.”
