Eldor Shomurodov admits it was ‘tough’ seeing Tammy Abraham join Roma as well, but he is confident the two forwards can play together under Jose Mourinho.

The Uzbekistan international was on target for his country and spoke to Championat.asia about his move from Genoa to the Giallorossi.

“It all happened in a week, Mourinho first spoke with my agent and then with me. I couldn’t believe it could all be done so quickly,” said Shomurodov.

However, his hopes for regular playing time took a knock when England international Abraham was also signed from Chelsea.

“I always try to give my best, whether I start or come off the bench. We’ll all have our chance. It was a bit tough to accept at first, but everything is fine now. I can play alongside him too. We haven’t actually tried it yet, but Mourinho knows I can play in a wider role as well.”

While Shomurodov was battling against relegation at Genoa, he has his sights much higher at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Our objective is to get back into the Champions League, then we’ll also try to win the Europa Conference League. It’s an enormous difference between the clubs, and obviously the organisation is incomparable too.

“There is no pressure working with Mourinho, he is our teacher and we are the students. He’s a great psychologist, the training sessions are really interesting.”
