Andriy Shevchenko is worried Genoa are struggling with a lack of confidence after the 3-1 defeat to Lazio. ‘We just crumble at the first error.’

The Grifone were only 1-0 down until the 75th minute, capitulating to goals from Pedro, Francesco Acerbi and Mattia Zaccagni.

Filippo Melegoni came off the bench and scored only the second goal in Shevchenko’s six Serie A games in charge.

“The only positive for this evening is the goal we scored,” Shevchenko told DAZN.

“We tried to play our game, but their first goal only happened because of our error. The team tried to react, we could’ve taken our chances better in the second half.”

Genoa are without a win in 12 Serie A matches now, so the coach who replaced Davide Ballardini is worried the situation is getting to his players.

“The team just crumbles at the first error, but we tried to play out from the back in a more pro-active manner, creating some promising situations.

“We are working hard and just lack a bit of confidence, which will come once the results arrive.”
