Former Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko believes Stefano Pioli’s men ‘can aim for the Scudetto’ and says Zlatan Ibrahimovic ‘conducts the orchestra perfectly’.

Sheva, who helped the Rossoneri win the League, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League during his time at Milanello, said the spirit under Pioli can help them fight for the Scudetto this term.

“Of course they can [aim for the Scudetto],” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “It’s obvious that the championship is still long, but Pioli finished last season well and started this season even better.

“This year, the important thins is to keep your feet on the ground. What makes the difference is the spirit you take to the pitch.

“The Rossoneri resemble an orchestra. Everyone has their task and does it well, Ibra directs them perfectly.

“And Pioli has his merits. Between Zlatan and the coach, [Paolo] Maldini has put himself in the hands of two extraordinary drivers.

“Around them, there are many guys who want to do well. They are full of energy, it’s really beautiful. But it’s not time to speak and it’s right to set the team’s objectives one step at a time."
