Xherdan Shaqiri hopes Inter will win the League this season, despite an unhappy end to his Nerazzurri career.

The Swiss winger arrived at San Siro from Bayern Munich in January, but was moved on to Stoke City this summer after just six months.

“Unfortunately not everything went for the best at Inter,” Shaqiri admitted to FCInterNews.

“In the end the club needed someone to leave, and I was one of the few they’d received offers for who could bring some cash in.

“In the end the club needed someone to leave, and I was one of the few they’d received offers for who could bring some cash in.

“I’m happy that I moved to what I consider to be the best League in the world. I spent six happy months at Inter, but at the end I was no longer happy.

“I can honestly tell you though that I hope Inter can win the League and the Coppa Italia this year. They started well, so they’ll have to continue to the end of the season, because it won’t be easy due to the strength of their rivals.”

It has been suggested that Shaqiri’s relationship with Coach Roberto Mancini broke down, but the player insists that was not the case.

“To me, he’s a special Coach with whom I had a normal working relationship. He wants to make the Nerazzurri fans happy by winning a trophy at the end of the season.”
