Bayern Munich attacker Xherdan Shaqiri’s agent says that the player would be happy to wear the Roma shirt, but that a January deal is complicated.

The 23-year-old is again being increasingly linked with a switch to Serie A this January, and has encouraged that speculation through his own words.

However, speaking today, his agent has deflated the hopes of the Giallorossi in particular being able to pick him up this mid-season.

“We talked about this in the summer, when it seemed like [Juan] Iturbe would go to Juventus,” Ulisse Savini has told Centro Suono Sport.

“Eventually Roma went for the ex-Verona player.

“Right now the situation is difficult, I doubt he can move in January.

“There will be a decisive meeting in December between the player, his brother, another agent and Bayern, to decide on Shaqiri's future.

“Until then nothing is moving. But I can't confirm whether there will be any meetings with Roma. We'll see.”

Savini was also asked whether Shaqiri would like playing for a team like Roma, and the agent was optimistic.

“This summer he said he liked the scene with the Giallorossi, so it seems clear to me that he'd still be happy to play for Roma.

“But he won't leave in January – he played in the Champions League and therefore can no longer be used for it.

“This complicates the deal, especially as it is an expensive one – and I doubt Bayern could find a replacement to match him.”

Savini was questioned about just how ‘expensive’ Shaqiri might be.

“Bayern got him for €13m two years ago – anyone who buys his services gets a good deal because he is a fantastic player.

“Even though he is very young, today he is worth at least €20m.

“[Sporting director Walter] Sabatini's appreciation for this player goes way back, and we discussed him several times, but we never found the right solution to bring him to Rome.

“Roma wanted him three years ago, but he ended up going to Bayern.”
