Shakhtar Donetsk confirm Lassina Traore will be out of action for up to a year after a devastating injury during the Champions League game against Inter.
They were only seven minutes into the match in Kiev last month when Traore and Denzel Dumfries both went for the same ball.
Traore’s foot was accidentally caught under the Inter man’s body, so as he fell backwards, the ankle and knee went at an unnatural angle.
He was stretchered off in agony and now, several weeks later, Shakhtar Donetsk have released an update on his condition.
“The knee joint structures are damaged,” explained chief medic Artur Hlushchenko on the club website.
“In two weeks, he will be operated on. It takes time for the swelling to decrease to ensure sufficient knee joint flexion.
“The injury is really serious. Traore’s recovery may take anywhere between nine months and a year.”

Feel very bad for him. Dumfries should be penalised for a year for his stupidity
