The battle for River Plate striker Julian Alvarez is intensifying, as Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina face competition from Roberto De Zerbi’s Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 21-year-old Argentine sensation is looking for a transfer to Europe and Italy seems a likely destination.

He has already attracted the interest of Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina, with a price-tag of circa €25m.

Scouted by Paratici, could end up in Serie A: who is River starlet Julian Alvarez?

Now Tuttomercatoweb report that Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine have also set their sights on Alvarez.

Unlike the first two Serie A clubs, Shakhtar have more cash freely available and would be able to guarantee regular playing time too.

His current contract with River Plate only runs to December 31, 2022.

So far this season, Alvarez has found the net a remarkable 15 times in just 16 Superliga appearances, along with six assists for his teammates.

Aston Villa also have fresh funds, but ESPN suggest Juve are the favourites to sign Alvarez.

However, the Bianconeri could step aside in favour of Fiorentina if the Viola were to make it easier for them to get Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window instead.
