Roma have been targeting Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, but seem to have lost out to their old director Monchi and Sevilla.

According to The Sun newspaper, Bailly seems more inclined to accept a loan move to Sevilla rather than reunite with Jose Mourinho, the coach who had first brought him to Old Trafford in 2016.

Bailly barely played for Manchester United last season and is now even lower down the pecking order thanks to the arrival of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

Mourinho had named the Ivory Coast international as a potential reinforcement this summer, but it seems as if he has been beaten to the player by former Roma director of sport Monchi, who is now back at Sevilla.

Milan had also been mentioned as potentially showing an interest in Bailly on loan, as his contract with Manchester United runs to June 2024.

It would be a return to Spain, where the 28-year-old spent most of his career at Espanyol and Villarreal.

  1. Great player even things never worked out with Man U but I wish u the very best in ur carrier.

  2. @Mohammed, what happened is Bailly has 20 appearances in 3 years!
Glad Sevilla “snatched” him after the thrashing Arsenal gave them, La Liga has low expectations on defense and he can continue to heal from his over dozen injuries.
Good Luck Bailly I’m sure Juve will come for you when it’s time for Bonucci to retire!! LOLOL

  3. Always out of position and having to stretch for the ball and getting injured, another waste of space at United.
