The national police have reportedly sent a letter to the Spanish government asking to play Sevilla-Roma in the Europa League behind closed doors.

The Roma based newspaper Corriere dello Sport writes that Jupol (the National Police Union) sent a request to the Spanish government ahead of the scheduled match next Thursday.

They have urged the deputy to close the doors at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan amid fear of the coronavirus outbreak, citing concern about the security of the police officers who will operate inside and outside the sports facility.

The emergency in Italy has triggered the Spanish police to ask for precautionary measures for their workers, who will have direct contact with the Italian supporters.

The Corriere dello Sport reports that there are approximately 600 travelling fans expected for the tie and the union has requested that each agent has suitable equipment to avoid contagion, in case of an open stadium.

The report claims that the Spanish police wants all the uniforms and vans to be disinfected by a specialised company and the government must guarantee the safety of all operators.

Earlier today, the match between Barcelona and Napoli at Camp Nou was subject of evaluation and now the match in Andalusia will also be discussed after the long letter of requests by the Union of the National Police.
