Sevilla’s President says they worked for “several months” to get Stevan Jovetic from Inter, but were put off by his wages.

The forward spend the second half of last season on loan with the Liga club, but they didn’t activate their €13m option to buy.

Los Rojiblancos tried to negotiate for a lower fee, but the Montenegrin ultimately joined Monaco instead.

“We were negotiating for several months,” Jose Castro said in a Press conference today.

“We couldn’t agree a financial deal because of his high wage and we’d already made a big effort for Luis Muriel.

“We have [Wissam] Ben Yedder and don’t forget Carlos Fernandez.”
