Matteo Gabbia seems set to leave Milan on loan this summer and a number of Italian clubs are keen to pick him up.

The 22-year-old Italian centre back mostly featured as a rotation option under Stefano Pioli in the season just gone, making eight Serie A appearances for a total of 537 minutes. He showed some potential and now seems like the right time for him to receive consistent first team minutes.

As detailed by TuttoMercatoWeb, Gabbia has been in Sampdoria’s sights for some time now but several other clubs have emerged for the Milan defender, including Udinese, Bologna and Empoli.

Multiple clubs have opened talks and the 22-year-old Italian could have his pick of the litter this summer as he looks to continue his development.

Gabbia is a product of the Rossoneri’s youth system and spent a year on loan with Lucchese back in the 2018-19 season.

  1. I don’t understand. He’s a homegrown player so is certainly needed to fill the squad quota needed by the rules. Also, with Botman gone and as long as we don’t sign another defender, it’s impossible for him to leave.
