“There are big regrets, because we thought that we had a good chance of securing safety. Unfortunately, the team showed it had serious limitations and things didn’t go well,” Setti told Mediaset Premium.

“We’ll try to reboot and have a great campaign as protagonists in Serie B. I understand the fans are upset, it has been a difficult year for everyone and we worked very hard. Unfortunately, the team lacked that killer instinct.”

Unlike several of the other relegation candidates, Verona refused to fire Coach Fabio Pecchia.

“I could’ve changed the manager, but I am a consistent person and will only pull the plug if I see the team is no longer following their Coach. That was not the case and therefore I didn’t make a change.

“I think this squad had the quality to stay in Serie A, but was lacking in terms of character.”
