Newly-promoted Cagliari are set to begin the season without Marko Rog and Gianluca Lapadula after both sustained serious injuries.
A statement from the Sardinians this evening confirmed that Lapadula has already gone under the knife to correct the instability of a medial ligament in his right ankle.
There is no news on how long this will require him to be out of action for.
Lapadula was on target in the first leg of the the Serie B promotion play-off against Bari, which eventually sent Claudio Ranieri’s side into the top flight.
Meanwhile, Cagliari also announce that midfielder Rog sustained a left knee injury during the friendly match against the Roma Under-19 side.
He was diagnosed with a lesion to the anterior cruciate ligament, which depending on the extent of the damage, could require several months out.
It is a blow for Croatia international Rog, who already had cruciate ligament injuries in December 2020 and July 2021.
