Como Calcio have announced that player Pierre Bolchini is positive for COVID-19, while Reggina director Massimo Taibi warns the Serie C season is essentially over.
Although Serie A teams are returning to work this week, the same cannot be said for Serie B and above all Serie C, where the facilities are not as well-equipped to guarantee social distancing measures.
It is widely reported that the Serie C campaign will be terminated early, with the top three from each regional group gaining promotion into Serie B.

It is widely reported that the Serie C campaign will be terminated early, with the top three from each regional group gaining promotion into Serie B.
That became even more likely after Como announced goalkeeper Bolchini has tested positive for COVID-19.
Their statement notes he has no symptoms, but was tested after one of his family members – who works in public healthcare – caught coronavirus.
He has been in self-isolation since March 10 anyway and will therefore continue to remain in his home.
Meanwhile, Reggina director general Taibi made clear the Serie C clubs are in agreement over what happens next.
“I am waiting for the official announcement so I can start planning the next season,” Taibi told the Gazzetta del Sud newspaper.
“I think the Serie C tournament will be definitively suspended, as it’d be too complicated to get back out on to the pitch. If there is a change of plan, we’d be ready.
“If by Thursday the Lega has not given us a precise indication, then we’ll release the players to go back to their homes. They’ve been in Reggio Calabria for two months and have the right to see their families.”
