A Serie C Coach has been given a five-month ban for head-butting an opponent.

Lucchese boss Giancarlo Favarin struck Alessandria assistant Gaetano Mancino at the end of his side’s 2-2 draw on Sunday.

A Lega Pro Press release confirmed Favarin was punished ‘for expressing blasphemous phrases during the game, inviting his own player to ‘break the legs’ of an opponent and engaging in verbal polemics with a member of the opposing team’s staff, the peak of which saw him knock the latter to the ground with a violent headbutt.’

However, Mancino was hit with a two-match ban of his own for ‘offensive and provocative behaviour towards the Coach of the opposing team during the game.’

Favarin also argues the Alessandria No 2 spat at him, further provoking the head-butt.
