Serie B club Ternana have sacked Coach Christian Panucci after intense disagreements with president Edoardo Longarini.

The former full-back's results were acceptable, as he had just beaten Pordenone 2-0 and qualified for the second round of the Coppa Italia.

However, his occasionally feisty character appears not to have been too popular within the Rossoverdi's higher echelons.

“Longarini must be the first president in history who doesn't speak with the Coach,” Panucci said four days ago, expressing his disagreement over the club's transfer strategy. “And director general Alessandro Capizzi doesn't understand about football, I get nervous when I'm around him.”

Longarini did not appreciate the comments, and Panucci has now officially been sacked alongside his strongest ally within the club, sporting director Fabrizio Larini.

“I always had a great relationship with Larini, and we tried doing things in a serious and professional way,” said Panucci after the news, as reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport. “The president decided this way. We accept his choice with great bitterness.”
