Filippo Inzaghi’s Reggina have qualified for the Serie B play-offs alongside Bari, Cagliari, Parma, Sudtirol and Venezia, while Brescia and Cosenza will meet in the play-out and Perugia have been relegated to Serie C.
The last match of Serie B’s regular season was played on Friday night and saw Inzaghi’s Reggina secure a 1-0 win over Ascoli thanks to a late penalty converted by Luigi Canotto at minute 94.
The Granata have qualified for the play-off and will face Sudtirol away on May 26. The following day, on May 27, Cagliari will host Venezia.
The winner of Sudtirol-Reggina will meet Bari and one between Cagliari and Venezia will face Gigi Buffon’s Parma in the play-off semi-finals.
Massimo Cellino’s Brescia must earn survival in a play-out against Cosenza. The first leg will be played in Calabria on May 25, the decider is in Brescia on June 1.
Brescia managed to avoid relegation thanks to a 2-2 draw at Palermo on Friday which left the Rosanero out of a play-off placement and sent Perugia to Serie C despite a 3-2 win over Benevento.
Il Grifone have been relegated to Italy’s third division, joining SPAL and Benevento, while Frosinone and Genoa earned direct Serie A promotion a few weeks ago.
