Venezia are on the verge of securing promotion to Serie A after winning the first leg of the play-off final, 1-0 away to Cittadella.

Venezia had the upper hand throughout at the Tombolato, Elhan Kastrati forced into several saves on Pietro Ceccaroni’s diving header and a Francesco Di Mariano strike.

Frank Tsadjout saw his attempt from close range denied by Niki Maenpaa in the only genuine chance for the hosts.

The decisive match at the Stadio Penzo will be on Thursday May 27, with Cittadella needing to win by two clear goals.
