Serie B club Cosenza are forced to change coach during the shutdown, as Bepi Pillon announced he is leaving for “personal reasons” a month after taking the job.

Pillon was appointed on February 11 and only managed to oversee five games before Serie B ground to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It is also because of this crisis that Pillon is stepping down, as he wrote on the official club website that he was walking away for personal reasons.

Pillon was appointed on February 11 and only managed to oversee five games before Serie B ground to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It is also because of this crisis that Pillon is stepping down, as he wrote on the official club website that he was walking away for personal reasons.

“After reflecting carefully on the situation, Cosenza Calcio and I have decided to interrupt our working relationship consensually,” wrote the 64-year-old.

“In this difficult period for Italy, my first thoughts are on my health, that of my family and of all Italians. This forces some choices, which cannot be dictated by my passion for football or dedication to work, but common sense and the problems we are facing in my home region of Veneto.

“It would be impossible to continue travelling from Treviso to Cosenza during the current situation that Italy is going through. I wish Cosenza and all their fans the best of luck.”

Assistant manager Roberto Occhiuzzi has been appointed as caretaker coach, while Piero Braglia is the favourite to take over, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Braglia had been sacked just over a month ago.
