The Lega Serie C/Lega Pro already announced its plans to finish the season early due to the coronavirus pandemic and its logistical effects.

Following the Government ruling that professional athletes can resume training from May 18, the calculations are being made for when the campaign can reach a natural conclusion.

The Lega Serie B had a videoconference meeting today, in which clubs unanimously agreed they require at least three months from the Government’s all-clear for training in order to finish the season.

This should allow them to end within the final dates of the UEFA competitions, so therefore in mid to late August.

It remains to be seen how Serie B clubs will be able to cope financially and logistically with the medical protocol when that is finalised, as it includes isolating players in a training retreat and regular swab and blood tests.

The Serie B season was 28 rounds in when interrupted on March 10, with Benevento 20 points clear at the top of the table, followed by Crotone, Frosinone and Pordenone.
