Pippo Inzaghi’s Reggina have won an appeal to have their seven-point penalty reduced to five, putting them back in the Serie B promotion play-off places.

The club has been struggling all season with financial problems and a series of judicial reviews that penalised them for failing to meet deadlines.

They had been docked a total of seven points in the 2022-23 campaign.

Today a motion to the Federal Court of Appeal was accepted, handing back two of those points.

It means Reggina now climb back to eighth place on 47 points in the Serie B table, leapfrogging Venezia, Pisa and Ascoli.

Above all, that result puts them back in the promotion play-off places as Serie B goes into the final weeks of the season.

Frosinone and Genoa have already earned automatic promotion to Serie A, while the third team making the step up will be decided after the play-offs in June.
