Monza have five players who tested positive for COVID-19, so their Serie B game against Benevento has been postponed.

While the Premier League and other lower English divisions have seen their fixtures decimated by COVID cases this week, Italian football has so far been largely unaffected.

This is the first game to be postponed in Italy for COVID-19 in many months.

Monza are pushing for promotion and are owned by former Milan President Silvio Berlusconi.

They registered new cases today, taking the total number of players testing positive within the squad to five.

As a result, the local health authorities imposed self-isolation at home on the entire group from today until Tuesday December 21.

Therefore, their Serie B match scheduled for Sunday December 19 has been postponed.

There is a very high vaccination rate among Serie A players, believed to be 98 per cent, but the figures on Serie B are not confirmed.
