The fixture list for the 2023-24 Serie B season has been drawn up, starting with a Bari-Palermo showdown, but there is an ‘X’ while Reggina and Brescia continue their legal battle.

The campaign is supposed to kick off on the weekend of August 19, but that is unlikely to happen because of the legal wrangling.

Reggina were excluded from Serie B due to financial irregularities, having failed to pay outstanding debts in time.

The club has promised to appeal through every legal avenue, which could last well into August, after the date at which the season should’ve started.

In the meantime, Brescia are petitioning to be allowed back into Serie B as their replacement, having lost the Serie B relegation play-off against Cosenza.

This is why the calendar was drawn up with an ‘X’ in place of the team that will be likely either Reggina or Brescia, once the legal issues have been resolved.
