The Rondinelle fired Gigi Delneri after just two rounds and brought back Lopez, who had left following relegation over the summer.

He made an immediate impact, securing a 3-0 victory against Lecce thanks to an Emanuele Ndoj brace and Florian Aye tap-in.

It was particularly pleasing for President Massimo Cellino to see they beat Lecce with his old coach Eugenio Corini in charge.

Meanwhile, Monza’s match with Vicenza has been postponed due to the growing COVID-19 outbreak at the home club, as seven players have tested positive and two more are self-isolating.
