As Fabio Cannavaro gets ready to sign his contract with Benevento, Serie B becomes the World Cup winners’ league with Pippo Inzaghi, Fabio Grosso, Gigi Buffon and Cesc Fabregas.
The 2006 Italy World Cup winner is set to take over at Benevento, signing a two-year deal and getting his first coaching job in Italy.
He will face his former teammates Pippo Inzaghi and Fabio Grosso who were part of the Azzurri squad that won the World Cup in 2006.
Inzaghi is in charge of leader Reggina with 15 points in six games, followed by Grosso’s Frosinone, three points behind.
Gigi Buffon is still playing for Parma and is the only 2006 Azzurri World Cup winner not to have retired.
He will cross paths with ex-Chelsea Arsenal and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas who has won the World Cup and the Euros (twice) with Spain.
The Spaniard joined Como on a free transfer in the summer, buying a minority stake in the club along with Thierry Henry.
