Serie B strugglers Ascoli have appointed former Napoli and Sampdoria striker Davide Dionigi as their new coach.
Dionigi replaces Spaniard Guillermo Abascal, who was sacked after just two games at the helm.
The 46-year-old scored goals for the likes of Napoli, Reggina, Samp and Piacenza in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
He has gone on to manage clubs in Serie B and Serie C but has not worked since leaving Catanzaro over two years ago.

Ascoli are five points clear of the Serie B relegation zone but have lost five of their last six matches and currently occupy a playout position.
