The Lega Serie A has picked the MVPs of the 2020-21 season, with Gigio Donnarumma, Cristian Romero, Nicolò Barella and Cristiano Ronaldo among the winners.

The Lega Serie A announced the MVPs of the 2020-21 season today, picking the best young player, goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, attacker and the absolute MVP.

The players will receive the trophy on the pitch at the start of next season and the ranking included advanced analyses of Stats Perform, from the tracking data recorded by Netco Sports.

The rating system, patented in 2010 with K-Sport and scientifically validated, considers statistical and technical data, plus positional data.

For the final evaluation, all games played in Serie A, Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana were considered.

The best goalkeeper of the season went to Milan player Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is set to leave the Rossoneri this summer and has already been replaced by Mike Maignan, arriving from Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille.

Juventus loanee Cristian Romero had a great season with Atalanta and has been named The Best Defender of the season.

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic was named Best Under 23 after a successful season with the Viola.

The Serbian scored 21 goals in Serie A and has attracted interest from the giants in the League, but Fiorentina are hoping to keep the 20-year-old.

Inter have multiple names on the list, with Nicolò Barella named best midfielder of the season ahead of Franck Kessie and Rodrigo de Paul.

Barella, who moved to Inter from Cagliari in July 2019, has established himself as a key player at the Giuseppe Meazza and played 36 games when the Nerazzurri won their first Scudetto since 2009-10.

The Sardinian 24-year-old contributed nine assists and scored twice in the League this term, as the Nerazzurri ended Juventus’ dominance in the Italian top flight.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named The Best Striker of the season, as he was one goal away from becoming the only player to have scored 30 goals or more in two different campaigns.

The Portuguese superstar continued to score for fun in 2020-21 and was one of the most important players yet again, even if his future at the Allianz Stadium is uncertain.

The 36-year-old scored 29 goals in 33 League games and helped the team pick up the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana with his three goals in the two respective Finals.
