Lautaro Martinez returns to partner Marcus Thuram for Inter in a San Siro showdown with Mateo Retegui, Lazar Samardzic and Raoul Bellanova’s new-look Atalanta.

It kicks off at San Siro at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

The reigning champions opened up with a draw away to Genoa, then swept Lecce aside.

Lautaro Martinez was out injured for that Week 2 fixture, but returns here, leaving only Stefan de Vrij and Tajon Buchanan on the treatment table.

Atalanta can’t wait for the transfer window to close, having lost Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus and clung to Ademola Lookman, even though he only returned to training on Wednesday.

New signing Nicolò Zaniolo is out with another muscular injury, joining the lengthy absentee list with Sead Kolasinac, Ibrahim Sulemana, Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini.

Isak Hien didn’t make the trip either with flu symptoms, so it is a completely makeshift defence involving a midfielder and a wing-back, giving Raoul Bellanova his debut against one of his former clubs.

Lazar Samardzic also gets his first start after the transfer from Udinese, having previously been so close to joining Inter.

Marco Brescianini scored a brace on his debut against Lecce and starts for the third game running, while Retegui netted three in his first two games.

However, La Dea are fresh from a surprise defeat away to Torino.
