Serie A is set for an historic turning point, with reports all 20 clubs gave the all-clear to the creation of their own global media company for TV rights.
According to news agency ANSA, there was a unanimous vote in favour of the step in today’s meeting, which would bring Serie A in line with other top European leagues.
Lega Serie A President Paolo Dal Pino had pushed for this move from the start of his tenure, as it’d allow Serie A clubs to control their own television rights sale and negotiate as one entity.

It can also allow for the investment of private equity into the company, controlling both television and media rights.
For example, La Liga currently sells foreign rights at €890m per season, compared to just €350m for Serie A.
They could also set up a dedicated channel in partnership with current rights holders, not to mention including on demand streaming services in the rights auction for the 2021-24 period.
