Serie A Highlights: Verona 1-1 Sampdoria

Hellas were fresh off an impressive victory away to Atalanta, but Samp faced the very real threat of relegation after a home defeat to Salernitana. Sebastian Giovinco, Manolo Gabbiadini and Andrea Conti were still out of action.

Emil Audero had to come flying out of his penalty area to clear from Giovanni Simeone, then Marco Davide Faraoni came ghosting onto a Darko Lazovic cross at the back post only to fire over.

Samp threatened too, Lorenzo Montipò using his leg to keep out Antonio Candreva at the near post, while Adrien Tameze’s volley flashed just wide.

Tomas Rincon was booked and will be suspended for the Derby della Lanterna, but Samp received a penalty on the stroke of half-time when Koray Gunter clumsily caught Francesco Caputo.

Montipò was unfortunate, as he parried the Caputo penalty, but only back into the path of the Sampdoria striker to score on the rebound.

Verona struggled to get back into the game, a corner flicked just over the head of Simeone and Audero smothering at the feet of Kevin Lasagna.

They equalised when Nicolò Casale’s ball over the top found Caprari, his first shot was charged down by Maya Yoshida, but he retained control, took it around Audero and scored from a tight angle.
